Reviewing for Test 1
Test 1 is Friday Feb. 17. It will cover Secs. 2.1 - 2.5 and 3.1 - 3.4.
Chapter 2 important ideas: order properties of the real numbers (2.1.7), Theorem 2.1.9 on showing that a number is 0, absolute value properties (2.2.2), triangle inequality (2.2.3), sup and inf (2.3.2, 2.3.3, 2.3.4), supremum property of the real numbers (2.3.6).
Chapter 2 important homework problems: all assigned.
Chapter 3 important ideas: limit of a sequence (3.1.3), algebraic properties of limits (3.2.3), order properties of limits (3.2.4, 3.2.5, 3.2.6), Squeeze Theorem (3.2.7), Monotone Convergence Theorem (3.3.2), subsequences (3.4.1, 3.4.2), Bolzano-Weierstrass Theorem (3.4.8).
Chapter 3 important homework problems: all assigned.
